يا ربِّ حتّامِ أُعاني الهوى
فيat ذنبthe tail end ذاthis المغربthe West لاnot أرتقيI rise
في ذنب ذا المغرب لا أرتقي
O Lord, how long must I suffer love?
O Lord of Hittam, I suffer from love's agony
At the tail end of this West, I do not rise.
In the sin of the one with the sunset, I cannot ascend
غارتْsank فيَwithin me الشّمسُthe sun فمنso for أَجلthe sake of ذاthis
غارتْ فيَ الشّمسُ فمن أَجل ذا
لمdid not تُبقنيleave me أَطلعُI rise فيin المشرقِthe East
لم تُبقني أَطلعُ في المشرقِ
The sun has sunk within me, and for this reason
The sun has set on me, so for this reason
It has not left me to rise in the East.
It did not allow me to rise in the east
