وخلّدَتْ لَذَعات الحبِّ في كبدي
I would give my life for him whose sidelong glances bewitched my heart
I ransom with my soul the one whose glances have captivated my heart
and made the stings of love eternal in my liver.
And etched the pangs of love into my liver

The attributes of his gaze are sickness without pain

His coquetry is woven from haughtiness and arrogance,
The beloved of tenderness, of confusion and of insolence
his flank set swaying by suppleness and undulation.
The sympathetic one, of softness and of bending

On his face are flames from the fire of youth,
On his cheeks, from the fire of youth, flames
and the roses of his cheeks are dewy with the water of life.
And the roses of his cheeks from the water of life, dew
