مَا كنتُ عن سكريَ يا صاحِ صاحْ
Had my excuse become clear, O reproacher,
If my excuse, O companion, were accepted
I would not have been sober from my drunkenness, O friend.
I would not refrain from my intoxication, O reveler

لواحظ الغيدِ المراض الصحاحْ
And my cure and my sickness are nothing but
And my remedy and my illness are but
The glances of graceful maidens—languid yet sound.
The glances of the slender one, whether sick or healthy
