O giver of passages whose necklaces are too sublime
For a praiser’s description of them or an arranger’s stringing,
ومنand one whose فضائلهhis virtues عنof حَصْرهاenumerating them حَصرتْfell short
ومن فضائله عن حَصْرها حَصرتْ
فيin العصرِthis age أَلْسُنُthe tongues of مُدّاحٍpanegyrists ووُصّافِand describers
في العصرِ أَلْسُنُ مُدّاحٍ ووُصّافِ
And one whose virtues have defied enumeration
By the tongues of this age’s panegyrists and describers:
رِواقُهُhis pavilion فيin العُلىthe heights of glory ضافٍspacious ومورِدهُand his spring
رِواقُهُ في العُلى ضافٍ ومورِدهُ
فيin الفضلِbounty للمُرتجيfor one who hopes for إفضالهhis generosity ضافِabundant
في الفضلِ للمُرتجي إفضاله ضافِ
His pavilion in the heights of glory is spacious, and his spring
Of bounty is abundant for whoever hopes for his generosity.

You seek fairness from me—yet have
My ways known anything but kindness and fairness?
