الحمدُ للهِ فُزْنَا

الحمدُ للهِ فُزْنَا

وللمطالبِ حُزْنا

وللمطالبِ حُزْنا

Praise be to God—we have triumphed,

and attained our aims.

حُزْنا السُّرورَ وماتَ ال

حُزْنا السُّرورَ وماتَ ال

حسودُ غَمّاً وحُزْنا

حسودُ غَمّاً وحُزْنا

We gained joy, and the

envious man died of anguish and grief.

وَعادَ سَهْلاً من الأَم

وَعادَ سَهْلاً من الأَم

رِ كلُّ ما كان حَزْنا

رِ كلُّ ما كان حَزْنا

And smooth became, in our affairs,

all that had once been rough.

وأَذْعَنَتْ واستقادتْ

وأَذْعَنَتْ واستقادتْ

مُنىً لنا قد نَشَزْنا

مُنىً لنا قد نَشَزْنا

And they yielded and submitted—

wishes that once had defied us.

مواعدُ اللهِ في كلِّ

مواعدُ اللهِ في كلِّ

سُؤْلِ نَفْسٍ نَجَزْنا

سُؤْلِ نَفْسٍ نَجَزْنا

God's promises, in every

desire of the soul, came true.

إنَّ الأَعاديَ ذَلّوا

إنَّ الأَعاديَ ذَلّوا

بنصرِنا وعزَزْنا

بنصرِنا وعزَزْنا

Our enemies were indeed humbled

by our victory, and we grew mighty.

كم ظَهْرِ شركٍ قَصَمنا

كم ظَهْرِ شركٍ قَصَمنا

وعِطْفِ عِزٍّ هَزَزْنا

وعِطْفِ عِزٍّ هَزَزْنا

How many a back of polytheism we broke,

and a flank of might we shook;

وجيشِ باغٍ هَزمنا

وجيشِ باغٍ هَزمنا

ورأْسِ عَاتٍ هَمَزْنا

ورأْسِ عَاتٍ هَمَزْنا

and an aggressor's army we routed,

and a rebel's head we struck.

وفرصةٍ للأَماني

وفرصةٍ للأَماني

مع النّجاحِ انْتَهَزْنا

مع النّجاحِ انْتَهَزْنا

And many a chance to fulfill our wishes

we seized with success.

وكم مراكزِ ملكٍ

وكم مراكزِ ملكٍ

فيها الرِّماحَ رَكَزْنا

فيها الرِّماحَ رَكَزْنا

And in how many seats of sovereignty

we planted our spears!

وكم عَدوٍّ سلبنا

وكم عَدوٍّ سلبنا

هُ ملكَهُ وابْتَزَزْنا

هُ ملكَهُ وابْتَزَزْنا

And how many an enemy we stripped

of his kingdom, wresting it away!

نِلْنَا الذي قد رَجَونا

نِلْنَا الذي قد رَجَونا

بالحَوْطِ مما احترَزْنا

بالحَوْطِ مما احترَزْنا

We attained what we had hoped for,

by guarding against what we took care to avoid.

ولم يَجُزْ من أُمورِ الدُّ

ولم يَجُزْ من أُمورِ الدُّ

نيا سِوى ما أَجَزْنا

نيا سِوى ما أَجَزْنا

And nothing passed in the affairs of the

world except what we permitted.

ببأْسِ محمودٍ المَلْ

ببأْسِ محمودٍ المَلْ

كِ للخُطوبِ بَرَزْنا

كِ للخُطوبِ بَرَزْنا

With the might of Mahmud the king,

we went forth to face calamities.

وبينَ صَرْفِ العوادي

وبينَ صَرْفِ العوادي

وبيننا قد حَجَزْنا

وبيننا قد حَجَزْنا

And between the blows of misfortune

and ourselves we set a barrier.

للّهِ جَمُّ أَيادٍ

للّهِ جَمُّ أَيادٍ

عَنْ شُكْرِها قد عَجَزْنا

عَنْ شُكْرِها قد عَجَزْنا

God's favors are abundant,

beyond our ability to give thanks.

بكلِّ كَنْزٍ سَمَحْنا

بكلِّ كَنْزٍ سَمَحْنا

والحمدُ مما كَنَزْنا

والحمدُ مما كَنَزْنا

We gave freely of every treasure,

and praise is among what we hoarded.

إنّا لأَصْفَى وأَجدَى

إنّا لأَصْفَى وأَجدَى

في الخيرِ وِرْداً ومُزْنا

في الخيرِ وِرْداً ومُزْنا

We are indeed purer and more bountiful

in goodness, as a watering place and rainclouds.

ما ساجَلَ الناسُ إلاّ

ما ساجَلَ الناسُ إلاّ

فُتْنَا مَداهُمْ وجُزْنا

فُتْنَا مَداهُمْ وجُزْنا

Whenever people vied with us,

we outstripped their reach and went beyond.

لنا خلائقُ غُرٌّ

لنا خلائقُ غُرٌّ

على الوفاءِ غُرِزْنا

على الوفاءِ غُرِزْنا

We have shining qualities;

in loyalty we were rooted.

نُزِّهنَ عن كلِّ سوءٍ

نُزِّهنَ عن كلِّ سوءٍ

وبالخنَا ما غُمِزْنا

وبالخنَا ما غُمِزْنا

They were kept pure of every evil,

and we were never faulted for obscenity.

تَضيقُ بالحالِ ذَرْعاً

تَضيقُ بالحالِ ذَرْعاً

ونُوسِعُ العِرْضَ خَزْنا

ونُوسِعُ العِرْضَ خَزْنا

They chafe at our circumstances,

while we lay up ample stores of honor.

ولم نَدعْ للأَعادي

ولم نَدعْ للأَعادي

في موقفِ الفَخْرِ وَزْنا

في موقفِ الفَخْرِ وَزْنا

And we left our enemies

no weight in the arena of boasting.
