أقسمتُ سوى الجهاد ما لي أَرَبُ

أقسمتُ سوى الجهاد ما لي أَرَبُ

والرَّاحةُ في سواهُ عندي تَعَبُ

والرَّاحةُ في سواهُ عندي تَعَبُ

I have sworn: I have no desire but jihad.

And rest in anything else is toil to me.

إلاّ بالجِدِّ لا يُنالُ الطّلَبُ

إلاّ بالجِدِّ لا يُنالُ الطّلَبُ

والعيشُ بلا جدِّ جهادٍ لَعِبُ

والعيشُ بلا جدِّ جهادٍ لَعِبُ

Only through earnest effort can the desired goal be attained.

And life without earnest jihad is mere play.
