باللّه عرفت ما بقلبي صنعوا

خلوه بنار شوقهم ينصدع

By God, do you know what they have done to my heart?

By God, they knew what was in my heart

They left it to crack in the fire of longing for them.

They left it burning with their love until it cracked

ما لم أر شملي بهم يجتمع

ما لم أر شملي بهم يجتمع

ما أحسبني بعيشتي أنتفع

ما أحسبني بعيشتي أنتفع

So long as I do not see myself reunited with them,

I cannot see my days with them again joined

I do not think my life does me any good.

I cannot enjoy life's pleasures when we're apart
