فوفيتمُso you fulfilled بشفاءِwith a cure for ذاكَthat المعضلِintractable affliction
And Jerusalem's ailment had proved intractable before you.
Jerusalem's malady was intractable before you
So you supplied a cure for that intractable affliction.
Yet you brought healing to that intractability

زمناًfor a long time وغلتهمْand their burning thirst بهِfor it لمnot تبللِwas quenched
Kings passed on, longing for its conquest,
Kings grew accustomed to longing for its conquest
for a long time, their burning thirst for it unquenched.
For ages, yet their desire was never quenched
وأَتىand came زمانكمُyour time فأَمكنso became possible آخراًat last
ماwhat قدhad تعذَّرَproved impossible فيin الزَّمانِthe age الأَولِthe former
And your time came, making possible at last
Then your time came and at last
what had proved impossible in the former age.
What was impossible in the past became possible
ماnot كانwas قطُّever ولاnor يكونُwill be كفتحكمْlike your conquest
للقدسِof Jerusalem فيin الماضيthe past ولاnor المستقبلِthe future
Nothing ever was, nor ever will be, like your conquest
Never was there nor will there ever be a conquest like yours
of Jerusalem, in the past or the future.
Of Jerusalem, neither in the past nor the future
أَوجدتمُyou brought into being منهfrom it الذيwhat عَدِمَlacked الورىmankind

You brought forth from it what mankind had lacked,
You brought into being that which the world knew not
and in conquest you did what had not been done.
And accomplished in this conquest what none had accomplished

The hands of kings fell short of a source of glory;
The hands of kings fell short of glorious feats
you rose high through it; they were afflicted—for some fingertips (wording unclear).
You sought and attained what was beyond their grasp
أحييتُمyou revived فرعَthe branch of الكرامِthe noble ولمand not يزلْhas ceased

نصرُtriumph for المحقِّthe one in the right بكمthrough you وقهرُand subjugation of المبطلِthe one in the wrong
You revived the branch of the noble, and still endure
You revived the blossom of nobility which had withered
through you the triumph of the just and the subjugation of the unjust.
Victory for the righteous and defeat for the wicked remain through you
