لعدا على عدوى الصبابة معديا
If there were one to relieve the complaint of ardent love,
If the youth were to complain of their troubles to me
he would assail love's contagion, granting redress.
I would spread their troubles among the youth

Hope has died; so if you desire its life
Hope has died, so if you want its life
and resurrection, place your hope in the life-giving imam:
And resurrection, then seek the life-giving Imam

A judge through whom injustices met their death,
With him, injustices have been judged and erased
and who went on to efface their traces.
And he proceeds to erase their traces

Bringing forth treasures that time conceals

لو لم تجدك لطرد حلمكَ مرسيا
Al-Shahba would not have recovered from her stumble,
The grey-haired were not revived at their deafness
had she not found you firmly establishing the expulsion of your forbearance [wording unclear].
Had they not found your forbearance a harbor

She trembled at your might, which you sent
Your might, which you unleashed upon the tyrants
toward the tyrants, whetting the edge of your resolve.
To the limit of your resolute determination, made them tremble

And she complained of their evil, then writhed in distress;
And they were darkened by their evil, and so tossed about
hasten her [unclear word], sparing her.
Hastening the remnants of their pillars upon themselves

She scorned the burdensome men within her when she cast off
They cast off the disgraced among them when they threw
her burdens, and saw you driving them from her.
Their burdens and saw you rid them of these

Aleppo—tears milked from her eyes stream in torrents,
The milking of tears is an abundant torrent
because she met the dreadful, tear-bringing calamity.
When faced with the tremendous, tearful situation

And through Nur al-Din's justice, her horizon returned,
And by the justice of the light of faith, its horizon
after sorrow's cloud, to a clear sky.
Returned, after the clouds of sorrow, serene

He became the restorer of her splendor after
It came back to life, after it had gone, for its prosperity
it had vanished, and brought goodness to light within her.
And for the good among them you began

Taking thought for her affairs, and for her scattered parts
Looking after their affairs, arranging their disarray
bringing unity, taking charge of her welfare.
Seeking their betterment, taking responsibility

So sacred law returned, drawing strength from his justice,
Thus the Sacred Law returned, supported by his justice
and truth returned, seeking shelter in his shade.
And the truth returned, shaded by his shade

And Time sought refuge in his pardon, asking forgiveness
And time sought his pardon, repenting
for what it had committed, head bowed in shame.
For what it had gathered, head bowed in embarrassment
