اسم من قد ركب الأبلق

كي يتعدَّى ظاهرٌ في فرسهْ

كي يتعدَّى ظاهرٌ في فرسهْ

The name of the one who has mounted the piebald steed

The name of one who rode the white steed

to cross over is evident in his horse.

To transcend, brilliant on his horse

وهو قلبُ القلبِ أَبغى قلبه

وهو قلبُ القلبِ أَبغى قلبه

فأنا من أَجل ذا في هَوَسهْ

فأنا من أَجل ذا في هَوَسهْ

And he is the heart of the heart; I seek his heart.

Yet in his heart of hearts he craved more

So, because of this, I am in a frenzy over him.

So for this I pine and obsess

ومتى أَسكنُ في جنّته

ومتى أَسكنُ في جنّته

مستمداً ريحها من نفسه

مستمداً ريحها من نفسه

And when shall I dwell in his paradise,

And when I dwell in his paradise

drawing its fragrance from his breath?

Drawing breath from his very soul
