God decreed, O Samra, my love for you,
God decreed, O dark-eyed one, that I should love you
With firm resolve, so I neither withheld it nor gave it deliberately.

And every prisoner but the one you own
Is held awaiting death or mercy, or is ransomed.
Awaits ransom, murder, or benevolence.
