عَرَفْتُ مَنَازِلاً بِشِعَابِ شَرْجٍ

عَرَفْتُ مَنَازِلاً بِشِعَابِ شَرْجٍ

فَحَيَّيْتُ المَنازِلَ والشِّعَابَا

فَحَيَّيْتُ المَنازِلَ والشِّعَابَا

I recognized dwellings in the ravines of Sharj,

so I greeted the dwellings and the ravines—

مَنَازِل هَيّجَتْ لِلْقَلْبِ شَوقاً

مَنَازِل هَيّجَتْ لِلْقَلْبِ شَوقاً

ولِلْعَيْنَيْنِ دَمْعاً واكْتِئابَا

ولِلْعَيْنَيْنِ دَمْعاً واكْتِئابَا

dwellings that stirred longing in the heart,

and tears and sorrow in both eyes.
