مِنكِfrom you الجَمالُbeauty وَمِنّيand from me الحُبُّlove ياO نَوَساNosa
فَعَلِّليso console القَلبَthe heart إِنَّindeed القَلبَthe heart قَدhas يَئِساdespaired
From you comes beauty, and from me love, O Nosa.
From you is beauty, and from me is love, O Nawsa
So console the heart, for the heart has despaired.
So comfort my heart, for the heart has despaired
ياoh حَبَّذاhow lovely نَسمَةُa breeze مِنfrom توحَةTuha خَطَرَتdrifted by
أَطالَتِprolonged النَفسُthe soul مِنfrom أَسبابِهاits causes النَفَساthe breath
Oh, what a lovely breeze drifted by from Tuha!
How excellent is a breeze that blows from Tawha
The soul drew out its breath because of it.
My soul is weary of causes, and the soul despaired
أَضُمُّهاI embrace it ضَمَّthe embrace of مُشتاقٍa yearning lover بِهِin him خَبَلٌmadness
قَدhad رامَsought كَتمَto conceal هَوىlove for أَحبابِهِhis loved ones فَنَساthen forgot
I embrace it like a yearning lover afflicted with madness,
I hold her, the clasp of a lover confused by love
Who had sought to conceal his love for his loved ones, then forgot.
Who once resolved to conceal the love of his loved ones, but forgot
إِنif تَسمَعيyou hear قَرعَthe tolling of ناقوسٍa bell بِقَريَتِكُمin your village
فيat مَطلَعِthe breaking of الفَجرِdawn يَنعىannounces the death of اللَيلَnight وَالغَلَساand predawn gloom
If you hear a bell tolling in your village,
If you hear a bell toll in your village
At daybreak, announcing the death of night and predawn gloom,
At dawn, mourning the night and darkness
فَإِنَّهُthen indeed it is قَلبيَmy heart المَنكودِill-fated يَذكُركُمremembers you
فَهَلso, have سَمِعتِyou heard بِقَلبٍof a heart قَدhas غَداbecome جَرَساa bell
Then it is my ill-fated heart remembering you.
It is my grieving heart remembering you
So have you heard of a heart that has become a bell?
Did you ever hear of a heart that became a bell?
وَإِنand if تَأَلَّقَflashes بَرقٌlightning فيin سَماوَتِكُمyour skies
فَإِنَّهُthen indeed it مِنfrom لَهيبِthe blaze of القَلبِthe heart قَدhas قَبَساborrowed fire
And if lightning flashes in your skies,
And if lightning flashes in your skies
Then it has borrowed fire from the heart's blaze.
It is from the flames in my heart that caught fire
الروحُthe soul إِنif ظَمِئَتit thirsts يَوماًone day فَحاجَتُهاthen its need
خَمرٌwine سَماوِيَّةٌheavenly فاحَتexuded fragrance بِهاthrough it قُدُساholiness
If the soul thirsts one day, then what it needs is
If the spirit ever thirsts, its need
A heavenly wine, through which it breathes forth holiness.
Is heavenly wine - sanctity exudes from it
وَأَنتِand you ياO توحُTuh روحانِيَّةٌspiritual خُلِقَتwas created

And you, O Tuh, are a spiritual being, created
And you, O Tawha, are a spiritual being created
To show us the heights of Paradise's gardens reflected.
So you can show us the lofty gardens reflected
هذاthis جَمالُكِyour beauty يَدعونيcalls me لِأَعشَقَهso I may adore it
لكِنَّbut ثَغرَكِyour lips ياO دُنيايَmy world ماnot نَبَساuttered a word
This beauty of yours calls me to adore it,
Your beauty calls me to love it
But your lips, O my world, have not uttered a word.
But your lips, O my world, have not smiled
اللَهُGod يَشهَدُbears witness أَنّيthat I حينَwhen أَذكُركُمI remember you
أُديلُI set flowing دَمعاًtears عَلىover الخَدَّينِboth cheeks مُحتَبِساpent-up
God bears witness that, when I remember you,
God bears witness that when I remember you
I set pent-up tears flowing over both cheeks.
I shed tears down my cheeks, holding back
عَسىmay نَسيمُthe breeze of الصِباyouth يَسريdrift by فَيُسعِفُand bring relief بيthrough me
قَلباًa heart يَموتُis dying حَزيناًsorrowfully فيin الغَرامِlove عَسىmay it be so
May the breeze of youth drift by and, through me, bring relief to
Maybe the morning breeze will blow and help
A heart dying sorrowfully in love—may it be so.
A heart that dies sadly in passion - maybe

So if you send us news from Tuha,
If you send us any news from Tawha
Then how dearly this heart loves you, O Nosa!
How much this heart loves you, O Nawsa
