نَصائِحُ الشَيبِ تَحكي
ضِياءَradiance شَمسِsun الشِتاءwinter
ضِياءَ شَمسِ الشِتاء
The counsels of gray age mirror
The counsels of gray hair resemble
the radiance of youth’s sun;
the radiance of the winter sun:
ماnot تُدفِىءُwarms المَرءَthe person لكِنbut
ما تُدفِىءُ المَرءَ لكِن
إِحسانَهاits kindness فيin الضِياءthe light
إِحسانَها في الضِياء
they do not warm a person, but
it does not warm a person, yet
the good they do lies in illumination.
its kindness lies in its light.
