While they were seated on the high ground,

While they were seated at noon

one day, where the dhabah plant is pulled up,

One day as to remove slaughter

فإذا ابن بشر في مواكبه

فإذا ابن بشر في مواكبه

تهوي به خطارة سرح

تهوي به خطارة سرح

suddenly there was Ibn Bishr amid his cavalcades,

Then the son of man in his procession

a swift, tail-swaying she-camel sweeping him along.

Swept with him a mighty troop

فكأنما نظروا إلى قمر

فكأنما نظروا إلى قمر

أو حيث علق قوسه قزح

أو حيث علق قوسه قزح

It was as though they looked upon a moon,

As if they looked upon a moon

or where Quzah had hung his bow.

Or where the rainbow hung its bow
