فَقَدfor indeed دَفَعhas brought اللَّيلُthe night ضَيفاًa guest قَنُوعَاcontent with little
O inhabitants of Rāmah, is there any hospitality?
Does Asku dwell in Ramah - is there no village there?
For the night has brought a guest content with little.
For Night has lodged a guest, well pleased and satisfied.
كَفَاهُis enough for him مِنَof الزَّادِprovisions أنthat تمهدُواyou prepare
لَهُfor him نَظَراًa glance وَكَلاَماًand conversation وَسِيعَاample
As sustenance, it is enough for him that you prepare
Sufficient for his need that ye spread out for him
For him a glance and ample conversation.
A glance, some talk, and hospitality unstinting;
ثملٌdrunk نَشَاوَىintoxicated بِكَأسِwith the cup of الغَرَامِpassion
فَكُلُّso each غَدَاhas become لأخِيهِto his brother رَضيعَاa milk-brother
Drunk, intoxicated by the cup of passion,
Then with the cup of love did dawn the feast begin;
So each has become a milk-brother to the other.
So every morrow for its brother is as one new-born.
