The people of piety and learning are the people of eminence.
The people of piety and knowledge are people of happiness
Thus the man of lordship is Ahmad son of Muhammad.
So the brother of leadership, Ahmed bin Mohammed

The sun has risen—is there anyone who sees?
The sun is rising so is there anyone who can see?
And truth is clear—is there anyone rightly guided?
And the truth is evident so is there any guided one?

Indeed, the true man is one whom his own self ennobles
Indeed the young man is the one whose soul
through merit, not one who rules without being ennobled.
Was made virtuous by merit not the one who ruled others without merit

People differ in their paths to greatness,
And people differ in doctrines regarding the most high
and the chosen path is Ahmad's path.
And the chosen doctrine is the doctrine of Ahmed

and that of their successors, with the fidelity of one who denies no due.
And the later ones, with the fulfillment of one who does not deny

It is as if he is the caliph of Adam among us
or Adam himself, had he not been born.
Or Adam if he had not been born

The knowledge of certainty allowed him to see with his eye
and his envier saw him with the eyes of a sore-eyed man.
While the envious one saw him with blind eyes

who seeks that inheritance—or else let him sit.
Or else let him sit down

I found the sea of generosity, the fresh water spring

His knowledge preserved for him an undying remembrance:
His knowledge will survive for him immortal mention
that no man in this world is immortal.
That there is none in the world immortalized

and he chose what is with God and never runs out.
And he chose what never diminishes with God

Out of love, making asceticism appear desirable

it reveals to you the true nature of one detached from the world.
It shows you the reality of the detached one

So I amazed them, if one does not become an ascetic

That will wear out from the days, all that renews
جَاءَتْcame مُسَارِعَةًhastening إليكَto you بِسَاعَةٍat an hour
سَعِدَتْbecame fortunate مُطالِعَةًwhile beholding وإنْeven though لمْnot تُرْصَدِwas observed
It came hurrying to you at an hour
It has come hastily to you in an hour
blessed as it looked upon you, though it had not been observed.
That became fortunate in its rising even if unexpected
يَوْمُa day of اتِّصَالٍunion بالأَحِبَّةِwith loved ones حَبَّذاhow lovely
يَوْمٌa day بهon which انْقَطَعَتْwere severed قلوبُthe hearts of الحُسَّدِenviers
A day of union with loved ones—how lovely
The day of connection with loved ones is excellent
the day on which the hearts of enviers broke!
A day in which the hearts of enviers are cut off
ماnot سُيِّرَتْwas sent onward ماwhat بَيْنَbetween يوسُفَYusuf مِثْلَمَاas
قدindeed سُرَّwas gladdened فيهon it أَحْمَدٌAhmad بِمُحَمَّدِby Muhammad
What was conveyed between Yusuf [wording unclear] was not like
No time was happier between Yusuf and what
Ahmad's joy that day in Muhammad.
Brought joy to Ahmed in Mohammed
ياO حَبَّذاhow lovely مَدْحٌpraise لآِلِfor the family of مُحَمَّدٍMuhammad
دونَrather than التَّغَزُّلِlove poetry فيabout غَزَالٍa gazelle أَغْيَدِgraceful
How lovely is praise for the family of Muhammad,
O excellent, praise of the family of Mohammed
rather than love verse about a graceful gazelle!
Without amorous verse for a slender gazelle
إنَّindeed الجَلالَةَmajesty مُنْذُsince رُمْتُI sought مَدِيحَكمyour praise
لمnot تَرْضَhas allowed ليme ذكرَmention of الحِسَانِthe beautiful ones الخُرَّدِthe bashful maidens
Indeed, majesty, since I sought to praise you,
Indeed ever since I threw away praising you
has not permitted me to mention beautiful, bashful maidens.
Partial praise has not pleased me

So may God unite you, our masters,
So may God unite your leadership, our masters
in a union of safety, in everlasting bliss.
The union of well-being in eternal bliss
