Stand by me, a help against the days.
Stay with me as support in my days
Do not forsake me, O sons of ʿArrām.
Do not desert me, O sons of 'Arram

ضُرِّي فَحَسْبِي زَلْقَةُ الحَمَّامِ
If it pleases you—though your generosity forbids it—
If it pleases you - far be it from your grace -
that I suffer, then the bathhouse slip is enough for me.
My misfortune is enough, a slip of the pigeon
