نَمْsleep هَنِيئاًpeacefully مُحَمَّدَMuhammad بنَson of عَلِيٍّAli
نَمْ هَنِيئاً مُحَمَّدَ بنَ عَلِيٍّ
بِجَميلٍfor a good deed قَدَّمْتَyou sent ahead بَيْنَbetween يَدَيْكَاyour two hands
بِجَميلٍ قَدَّمْتَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَا
Sleep peacefully, Muhammad son of Ali,
Congratulations Muhammad son of Ali
for the good you have sent ahead of you.
For the kindness you have shown us
لَمْdid not تَزَلْcease to be عَوْنَنَاour help عَلَىagainst الدَّهْرِtime حَتَّىuntil
لَمْ تَزَلْ عَوْنَنَا عَلَى الدَّهْرِ حَتَّى
غَلَبَتْنَاovercame us يَدُthe hand of المَنُونِdeath عَلَيْكاover you
غَلَبَتْنَا يَدُ المَنُونِ عَلَيْكا
You never ceased to be our help against time, until
You were always there to help us throughout life
the hand of Death wrested you from us.
Until death's hand overcame you
أَنْتَyou أَحْسَنْتَwere kind فيin الحَياةِlife إلَيْنَاto us
أَنْتَ أَحْسَنْتَ في الحَياةِ إلَيْنَا
أَحْسَنَmay be kind اللهُGod فيin المَمَاتِdeath إلَيْكاto you
أَحْسَنَ اللهُ في المَمَاتِ إلَيْكا
You were kind to us in life;
You were good to us in life
may God be kind to you in death.
May God be good to you in death
