And do not sing love-preludes of homelands or abandoned camp-sites,
Do not dwell on lands or eras of the past
nor turn aside to a dwelling-site or a ruined remnant.
Nor wander to abandoned camps amid the dunes

But sing the beauty of Allah's beloved matchless and alone
to describing him, for that is the finest description and love poetry.
For in his praise all praise and verse become whole

When I praise those born of his brilliant fire
