يا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مِنْ مُضَرٍ

يا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مِنْ مُضَرٍ

وَالأَنْبِيا وَجَميعِ الرُّسْلِ مَا ذُكِرُوا

وَالأَنْبِيا وَجَميعِ الرُّسْلِ مَا ذُكِرُوا

O Lord, bless the Chosen One from Mudar,

O Lord, bestow blessings upon the Chosen One from Mudar,

And the prophets and all the messengers, whenever they are mentioned.

And upon all the prophets and messengers ever mentioned,

وَصَلِّ رَبِّ عَلَى الهَادِي وَشِيْمَتِهِ

وَصَلِّ رَبِّ عَلَى الهَادِي وَشِيْمَتِهِ

وَصَحْبِهِ مِنْ لِطَيِّ الدِّينِ قدْ نَشَرُوا

وَصَحْبِهِ مِنْ لِطَيِّ الدِّينِ قدْ نَشَرُوا

And bless, Lord, the Guide and his character,

And bestow, my Lord, blessings upon the Guide and his nature,

And his companions, who unfolded the folds of the faith,

And his companions from the essence of religion who have spread it,

وَجاهَدُوا مَعَهُ في اللهِ وَاجْتَهَدُوا

وَجاهَدُوا مَعَهُ في اللهِ وَاجْتَهَدُوا

وهاجَرُوا ولَهُ آوَوْا وَقَدْ نَصَرُوا

وهاجَرُوا ولَهُ آوَوْا وَقَدْ نَصَرُوا

And strove with him for God's sake and exerted themselves,

And strove with him in the way of God and exerted themselves,

And emigrated, sheltered him, and gave him support,

And emigrated and sheltered him and came to his aid,

وبَيَّنُوا الْفَرْضَ وَالمَسْنُونَ وَاعْتَصَبُوا

وبَيَّنُوا الْفَرْضَ وَالمَسْنُونَ وَاعْتَصَبُوا

للهِ وَاعْتَصِمُوا باللهِ وَانْتَصَرُوا

للهِ وَاعْتَصِمُوا باللهِ وَانْتَصَرُوا

And explained the obligatory and recommended practices, and banded together

And clarified religious duties and recommended acts, and held fast

For God, held fast to God, and prevailed.

To God, and took refuge in God, and were victorious,

أزْكَى صَلاَةٍ وأتماها وَأَشْرَفَها

أزْكَى صَلاَةٍ وأتماها وَأَشْرَفَها

يُعِطِّرُ الكَوْنُ رَيَّا نَشْرها العَطِرُ

يُعِطِّرُ الكَوْنُ رَيَّا نَشْرها العَطِرُ

The purest of blessings, the most complete and noblest,

The most fragrant blessing and the most perfect and noblest one

Its fragrant, wafting scent perfumes the universe,

That perfumes the universe with its diffusing fragrance,

مَفْتُوقَةً بِعَبِيرِ الْمِسْكِ زَاكِيةً

مَفْتُوقَةً بِعَبِيرِ الْمِسْكِ زَاكِيةً

مِنْ طِيبها أَرَجُ الرَّضْوَانِ يَنْتَشِرُ

مِنْ طِيبها أَرَجُ الرَّضْوَانِ يَنْتَشِرُ

Unsealed with the perfume of musk, pure and fragrant;

Infused with the scent of musk, pure,

From its sweetness spreads the fragrance of divine favor.

From its blessings the fragrance of delight spreads,

عَدَّ الْحَصَى وَالثَّرَى والرَّمْلِ يَتْبَعُهَا

عَدَّ الْحَصَى وَالثَّرَى والرَّمْلِ يَتْبَعُهَا

نَجْمُ السَّماءِ وَنَبْتُ الأَرْضِ والمَدَرُ

نَجْمُ السَّماءِ وَنَبْتُ الأَرْضِ والمَدَرُ

Numbering the pebbles, the moist earth, and the sand, followed by

Beyond counting pebbles, soil, and sand it follows,

The stars of heaven, the earth's plants, and clods of soil;

The stars of the sky and growths of earth and planets,

وَعَدَّ ما حَوَتِ الأُشْجَارُ منْ وَرَقٍ

وَعَدَّ ما حَوَتِ الأُشْجَارُ منْ وَرَقٍ

وكُلِّ حَرْفٍ غَدَا يُتْلَى وَيُستَطَرُ

وكُلِّ حَرْفٍ غَدَا يُتْلَى وَيُستَطَرُ

And numbering all the leaves contained by the trees,

And beyond counting what trees contain of leaves

And every letter that comes to be recited and written down;

And every letter recited and transcribed,

وَعَدَّ وَزْنَ مَثاقِيلِ الْجِبالِ كَذَا

وَعَدَّ وَزْنَ مَثاقِيلِ الْجِبالِ كَذَا

يلِيهِ قَطْرُ جَمِيعِ الماءِ والمَطَرُ

يلِيهِ قَطْرُ جَمِيعِ الماءِ والمَطَرُ

And numbering the measures of the mountains' weight; likewise,

And beyond the weight of mountains' pebbles likewise

Followed by the drops of all water and rain;

Followed by drops of all water and rain,

وَالطَّيْرِ وَالوَحْشِ وَالأسْماكِ مَعْ نَعَمٍ

وَالطَّيْرِ وَالوَحْشِ وَالأسْماكِ مَعْ نَعَمٍ

يَتْلُوهُمُ الجِنُّ وَالأمْلاكُ وَالبَشَرُ

يَتْلُوهُمُ الجِنُّ وَالأمْلاكُ وَالبَشَرُ

And birds, wild beasts, and fish, together with livestock;

And birds, beasts, and fish with cattle,

After them come the jinn, the angels, and humankind;

Followed by jinn, angels, and humans,

والذَّرُّ والنَّمْلُ معَ جَمْعِ الحُبُوبِ كَذَا

والذَّرُّ والنَّمْلُ معَ جَمْعِ الحُبُوبِ كَذَا

والشَّعْرُ والصُّوفُ والأَرْياشُ والوَبَرُ

والشَّعْرُ والصُّوفُ والأَرْياشُ والوَبَرُ

And tiny ants and ants, with all the grains; likewise,

And particles, ants, and all seeds likewise,

And hair, wool, feathers, and fur;

And hair, wool, feathers, and fur,

وما أحاطَ بهِ العِلْمُ المُحِيطُ وَما

وما أحاطَ بهِ العِلْمُ المُحِيطُ وَما

جَرَى بهِ القَلَمُ المَأمُونُ وَالقَدَرُ

جَرَى بهِ القَلَمُ المَأمُونُ وَالقَدَرُ

And all that all-encompassing knowledge embraces, and all

And all that infinite knowledge encompasses and all

That the trustworthy Pen has traced and destiny has decreed;

That the protected pen has ordained and fate has decreed,

وعَدَّ نَعْمَائِكَ اللاتِي مَنَنْتَ بِهَا

وعَدَّ نَعْمَائِكَ اللاتِي مَنَنْتَ بِهَا

عَلَى الخلائِقِ مُذْ كانُوا وَمُذْ حُشِرُوا

عَلَى الخلائِقِ مُذْ كانُوا وَمُذْ حُشِرُوا

And as many as Your blessings, which You have bestowed

And beyond counting all the blessings You have bestowed

Upon creatures, since they came to be and since they were gathered;

Upon creation since they were and until they are gathered,

وعَدَّ مِقْدَارِهِ السَّامِي الَّذي شَرُفَتْ

وعَدَّ مِقْدَارِهِ السَّامِي الَّذي شَرُفَتْ

بهِ النَّبِيُّونَ والأمْلاكُ وافْتَخَرُوا

بهِ النَّبِيُّونَ والأمْلاكُ وافْتَخَرُوا

And as great as his lofty rank, through which were ennobled

And beyond Your sublime measure by which have been ennobled

The prophets and angels, who also took pride in it;

The prophets, angels, who pride themselves,

وعَدَّ ما كانَ في الأكْوانِ يا سَنَدِي

وعَدَّ ما كانَ في الأكْوانِ يا سَنَدِي

وما يَكُونُ إلَى أنْ تُبْعَثَ الصُّوَرُ

وما يَكُونُ إلَى أنْ تُبْعَثَ الصُّوَرُ

And as many as all that existed in the worlds, O my support,

And beyond all that is in the cosmos, my Support,

And all that will exist until the forms are raised to life;

And all that will be until the Trumpet is blown,

في كُلِّ طَرْفَةِ عَيْنٍ يَطْرِفُونَ بِها

في كُلِّ طَرْفَةِ عَيْنٍ يَطْرِفُونَ بِها

أهْلُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ أوْ يَذَرُ

أهْلُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ أوْ يَذَرُ

At every blink of an eye with which they blink—

In every blink of an eye with which

The dwellers of the heavens and earths—or refrain from blinking;

The inhabitants of the heavens and earths wink, or less,

مِلْءُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ مَعْ جَبَلٍ

مِلْءُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ مَعْ جَبَلٍ

والْفَرْشِ والعَرْشِ والكُرْسِي وَما حَصَرُوا

والْفَرْشِ والعَرْشِ والكُرْسِي وَما حَصَرُوا

Filling the heavens and earths, together with a mountain,

The filling of the heavens and earths, a mountain,

And the earthly expanse, the Throne, the Seat, and all they have encompassed;

The ground, the Throne, the Pedestal and all they encompassed,

ما أَعْدَمَ اللهُ مَوْجُوداً وَأَوْجَدَ

ما أَعْدَمَ اللهُ مَوْجُوداً وَأَوْجَدَ

مَعْدُوماً صَلاَة دَوَاماً لَيْسَ تَنْحَصِرُ

مَعْدُوماً صَلاَة دَوَاماً لَيْسَ تَنْحَصِرُ

As long as God makes the existent cease and brings into being

All that God made exist from nothing, and created

The nonexistent: perpetual blessings without limit;

From nothing, everlasting blessings that cannot be counted,

تَسْتَغْرِقُ العدَّ مَعْ جَمعِ الدُّهورِ كَمَا

تَسْتَغْرِقُ العدَّ مَعْ جَمعِ الدُّهورِ كَمَا

يُحِيطُ بالحَدِّ لا تُبْقِي ولا تَذَرُ

يُحِيطُ بالحَدِّ لا تُبْقِي ولا تَذَرُ

Encompassing all counting and the sum of the ages, just as

Exhausting counting with all eras as

It encompasses every boundary, leaving nothing and sparing nothing;

They encompass the limit, leaving naught, nor sparing,

لا غايَةً وَانتِهَاءً يَا عَظِيمُ لَها

لا غايَةً وَانتِهَاءً يَا عَظِيمُ لَها

ولا لَهُم أمَدٌ يُقْضَى وَيُنْتَظَرُ

ولا لَهُم أمَدٌ يُقْضَى وَيُنْتَظَرُ

It has no limit or ending, O Magnificent One,

No end, O Exalted, to them

Nor do they have a term to be fulfilled or awaited;

And those praying have no term that passes and is awaited,

مَعَ السَّلامِ كَمَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ

مَعَ السَّلامِ كَمَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ

رَبَا وضاعَفَها والفَضْلُ مُنْتَشِرُ

رَبَا وضاعَفَها والفَضْلُ مُنْتَشِرُ

Together with peace, in the numbers already mentioned,

With peace as has passed from counting,

It grew, and He multiplied it, while bounty spreads;

My Lord, redoubled and spread bounty,

وَعَدَّ أَضْعَافِ مَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ

وَعَدَّ أَضْعَافِ مَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ

مَعْ ضِعْفِ أَضْعافِهِ يَا مَنْ لَهُ الْقَدَرُ

مَعْ ضِعْفِ أَضْعافِهِ يَا مَنْ لَهُ الْقَدَرُ

And numbering multiples of the numbers already mentioned,

And redoubled what has passed from counting,

With double their multiples, O You to whom destiny belongs;

O You who holds power!

كَمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَى سَيِّدِي وكَمَا

كَمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَى سَيِّدِي وكَمَا

أمَرْتَنا أنْ نُصَلِّي أنْتَ مُقْتَدِرُ

أمَرْتَنا أنْ نُصَلِّي أنْتَ مُقْتَدِرُ

As You love and approve, my Master, and as

As You love and approve, my Master, and as

You commanded us to invoke blessings; You are all-powerful.

You have commanded we pray, You are Powerful,

وَكُلُّ ذلِكَ مَضْرُوبٌ بِحَقِّكَ في

وَكُلُّ ذلِكَ مَضْرُوبٌ بِحَقِّكَ في

أنْفاسِ خَلْقِكَ إنْ قَلُّوا وَإنْ كَثُرُوا

أنْفاسِ خَلْقِكَ إنْ قَلُّوا وَإنْ كَثُرُوا

And all this is multiplied—by Your right—by

And all of that multiplied by Your right to

The breaths of Your creatures, whether few or many.

The breaths of Your creation, be they few or many,

يَارَبِّ واغْفِرْ لِتَالِيها وسامِعِها

يَارَبِّ واغْفِرْ لِتَالِيها وسامِعِها

وَالمُرْسَلِينَ جَمِيعاً أَيْنَمَا حَضَرُوا

وَالمُرْسَلِينَ جَمِيعاً أَيْنَمَا حَضَرُوا

O Lord, forgive its reciter and its listener,

O Lord, and forgive the reciter, hearer

And all the messengers, wherever they are present,

And senders, altogether wherever found,

وَوَالِدينَا وأَهْلِينا وَجِيرَانِنَا

وَوَالِدينَا وأَهْلِينا وَجِيرَانِنَا

وَكُلُّنا سَيِّدِي لِلْعَفْوِ مُفْتَقِرُ

وَكُلُّنا سَيِّدِي لِلْعَفْوِ مُفْتَقِرُ

And our parents, our families, and our neighbors;

And our parents and families and neighbors,

All of us, my Master, are in need of pardon.

And all of us my Master are wanting of pardon,

وقَدْ أَتَتْ بِذُنُوبٍ لاَ عِدَادَ لَها

وقَدْ أَتَتْ بِذُنُوبٍ لاَ عِدَادَ لَها

لكِنْ عَفْوَكَ لا يُبْقى ولا يَذَرُ

لكِنْ عَفْوَكَ لا يُبْقى ولا يَذَرُ

And it has come bearing sins beyond counting,

And have come with countless sins,

But Your pardon leaves nothing and spares nothing.

But Your pardon leaves nothing and spares nothing,

والهَمُّ عَنْ كُلِّ ما أَبْغِيهِ أَشْمَلَنِي

والهَمُّ عَنْ كُلِّ ما أَبْغِيهِ أَشْمَلَنِي

وقَدْ أَتَى خاضِعاً وَالقَلْبُ مُنْكَسِرٌ

وقَدْ أَتَى خاضِعاً وَالقَلْبُ مُنْكَسِرٌ

And worry over all that I seek has engulfed me,

And worry about all I desire has filled me,

And he has come humbled, with a broken heart.

And I have come humbly with a broken heart,

أَرْجُوكَ يَا رَبِّ في الدَّارَيْنِ تَرْحَمُنا

أَرْجُوكَ يَا رَبِّ في الدَّارَيْنِ تَرْحَمُنا

بِجَاهِ مَنْ فِي يَدَيْهِ سَبَّحَ الحَجَرُ

بِجَاهِ مَنْ فِي يَدَيْهِ سَبَّحَ الحَجَرُ

I beseech You, Lord, to have mercy on us in both worlds,

I hope for Your mercy, O Lord, in both abodes

Through the standing of him in whose hands the stone glorified God.

For the station of him at whose hands rock glorified,

يَا رَبِّ أَعْظِمْ لَنا أجْراً وَمَغْفِرَةً

يَا رَبِّ أَعْظِمْ لَنا أجْراً وَمَغْفِرَةً

لأَنَّ جُودَكَ بَحْرٌ لَيْسَ يَنْحَصِرُ

لأَنَّ جُودَكَ بَحْرٌ لَيْسَ يَنْحَصِرُ

O Lord, magnify our reward and forgiveness,

O Lord, magnify for us reward and forgiveness

For Your generosity is an ocean without bounds.

For Your bounty is an ocean that cannot be exhausted,

وكُنْ لَطِيفاً بِنَا في كلِّ نَازِلَةٍ

وكُنْ لَطِيفاً بِنَا في كلِّ نَازِلَةٍ

لُطْفاً جَمِيلاً بهِ الأهْوَالُ تَنْحَسِرُ

لُطْفاً جَمِيلاً بهِ الأهْوَالُ تَنْحَسِرُ

And be gentle with us in every calamity,

And be gentle with us in every calamity

With beautiful kindness through which terrors recede,

With beautiful gentleness by which terrors recede,

بالمُصْطَفَى المُجْتَبَى خَيْرِ الأنامِ ومَنْ

بالمُصْطَفَى المُجْتَبَى خَيْرِ الأنامِ ومَنْ

جَلاَلَةً نَزَلَتْ في مَدْحِهِ السُّوَرُ

جَلاَلَةً نَزَلَتْ في مَدْحِهِ السُّوَرُ

Through the Chosen, the Elect, the best of creation, and him

By the Chosen One, best of creation, and he

In whose praise the surahs descended in honor.

Whose majesty revelations praising him adorned scripture,

ثُمَّ الصَّلاَةُ عَلَى المُخَتارِ ما طَلَعَتْ

ثُمَّ الصَّلاَةُ عَلَى المُخَتارِ ما طَلَعَتْ

شَمْسُ النَّهارِ وما قَدْ شَعْشَعَ الْقَمَرُ

شَمْسُ النَّهارِ وما قَدْ شَعْشَعَ الْقَمَرُ

Then blessings upon the Chosen One for as long as rises

Then blessings upon the Chosen as long as the sun

The sun of day, and as long as the moon shines radiantly.

Of day has risen and the moon has radiantly shone,

ثُمَّ الرِّضَا عَنْ أبي بَكْرٍ خَلِيفَتِهِ

ثُمَّ الرِّضَا عَنْ أبي بَكْرٍ خَلِيفَتِهِ

مَنْ قَامَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِلدِّينِ يَنْتَصِرُ

مَنْ قَامَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِلدِّينِ يَنْتَصِرُ

Then favor upon Abu Bakr, his successor,

Then pleasure with Abu Bakr His successor,

Who rose after him to champion the faith;

Who stood for the religion after him and was victorious,

وَعَنْ أَبِي حَفْصٍ الفَارُوقِ صاحِبِهِ

وَعَنْ أَبِي حَفْصٍ الفَارُوقِ صاحِبِهِ

مَنْ قَوْلُهُ الْفَصْلُ في أحْكامِهِ عُمَرُ

مَنْ قَوْلُهُ الْفَصْلُ في أحْكامِهِ عُمَرُ

And upon Abu Hafs, al-Faruq, his companion,

And about Abu Hafs al-Farouq his companion,

Whose word is decisive in his judgments—Umar;

Whose word was decisive in his rulings - Umar,

وَجُدْ لِعُثْمَانَ ذِي النورَيْنِ مَنْ كَمُلَتْ

وَجُدْ لِعُثْمَانَ ذِي النورَيْنِ مَنْ كَمُلَتْ

لَهُ المَحَاسِنُ في الدَّارَيْنِ والظَّفَرُ

لَهُ المَحَاسِنُ في الدَّارَيْنِ والظَّفَرُ

And be generous to Uthman, Possessor of the Two Lights, for whom were perfected

And find for Uthman of the Two Lights, in whom perfected

Virtues in both worlds, and victory;

Virtues in both abodes and triumph were completed,

كَذَا عَلِيَّ مَعَ ابْنَتِهِ وَأُمِّهِمَا

كَذَا عَلِيَّ مَعَ ابْنَتِهِ وَأُمِّهِمَا

أَهْلِ العَبَاءِ كَمَا قَدْ جَاءَنا الخَبَرُ

أَهْلِ العَبَاءِ كَمَا قَدْ جَاءَنا الخَبَرُ

Likewise Ali, with his daughter and the mother of them both,

Likewise Ali with his daughter and their mother,

The People of the Cloak, as the report has reached us;

The Family of the Cloak as has reached us in reports,

سَعدٌ سَعِيدُ بنُ عَوْفٍ طَلْحَةٌ وَأَبُو

سَعدٌ سَعِيدُ بنُ عَوْفٍ طَلْحَةٌ وَأَبُو

عُبَيْدَةَ وَزُبَيْرٌ سادَةٌ غُرَرٌ

عُبَيْدَةَ وَزُبَيْرٌ سادَةٌ غُرَرٌ

Sa'd, Sa'id, Ibn Awf, Talha, and Abu

Sa‘d and Sa‘eed, sons of ‘Awf, Talhah and Abu

Ubayda and Zubayr—leaders, radiant exemplars;

‘Ubaydah, and Zubayr, eminent and virtuous,

وَالآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ والاتْبَاعِ فاطِمَةٌ

وَالآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ والاتْبَاعِ فاطِمَةٌ

ما حَنَّ لَيْلُ الدَّيَاجِي أَوْ بَدَا السَّحَرُ

ما حَنَّ لَيْلُ الدَّيَاجِي أَوْ بَدَا السَّحَرُ

And the family, the companions, the followers, and Fatima,

And the Household, Companions, and Followers - Fatimah -

As long as the night of deep darkness yearns, or the predawn appears.

As long as night’s wrap has sighed or dawn has broke,
