غَدا جَامِعُ ابنِ العاصِ كهفَ أَئِمَّةٍ

غَدا جَامِعُ ابنِ العاصِ كهفَ أَئِمَّةٍ

فللهِ كَهْفٌ لِلأئِمَّةِ جَامِعُ

فللهِ كَهْفٌ لِلأئِمَّةِ جَامِعُ

The congregational mosque of Ibn al-‘As has become a refuge for imams;

Tomorrow Ibn al-Aas's mosque is the cave of imams

so, praise be to God for a refuge that gathers the imams!

So for the imams the mosque is a cave

لَقَدْ سَرَّنا أَنَّ القُضاةَ ثَلاثَةٌ

لَقَدْ سَرَّنا أَنَّ القُضاةَ ثَلاثَةٌ

وأنكَ تَاجَ الدِّينِ لِلْقَوْمِ رَابِعُ

وأنكَ تَاجَ الدِّينِ لِلْقَوْمِ رَابِعُ

It has indeed delighted us that the judges are three,

We were glad that the judges are three

and that you, Taj al-Din, are their fourth.

And you are the crown of religion for the people, the fourth

بِهِمْ بِنْيَةُ الإسلاَمِ صَحَّتْ وكيف لا

بِهِمْ بِنْيَةُ الإسلاَمِ صَحَّتْ وكيف لا

تَصِحُّ وهُمْ أَرْكانُهَا والطَّبائِعُ

تَصِحُّ وهُمْ أَرْكانُهَا والطَّبائِعُ

Through them, the structure of Islam has become sound—and how could it not

With them the structure of Islam became sound, and how not

be sound, when they are its pillars and constituent elements?

When they are its pillars and leaders

فَهُمْ رُخَصاً أَبْدَوا لنا وَعَزَائماً

فَهُمْ رُخَصاً أَبْدَوا لنا وَعَزَائماً

هُدِينا بها فَهْيَ النُّجُومُ الطَّوَالِعُ

هُدِينا بها فَهْيَ النُّجُومُ الطَّوَالِعُ

For they have set forth for us dispensations and strict rulings;

They showed us licenses and strictnesses

by these we were guided, for they are the rising stars.

We were guided by them, they are the rising stars

فَلاَ تَبْتَئِسْ إنْ وَسَّعَ اللهُ في الْهُدَى

فَلاَ تَبْتَئِسْ إنْ وَسَّعَ اللهُ في الْهُدَى

مذاهبَنا بالعلمِ واللهُ واسعُ

مذاهبَنا بالعلمِ واللهُ واسعُ

So do not grieve if, in guidance, God has broadened

So do not despair if Allah expanded

our schools of thought through knowledge; God is all-embracing.

Our doctrines with knowledge, and Allah is All-Encompassing

تفَرَّقَتِ الآراءُ وَالدِّينُ واحِدٌ

تفَرَّقَتِ الآراءُ وَالدِّينُ واحِدٌ

وكُلٌّ إلى رَأْيِ مِنَ الحَقِّ رَاجِعُ

وكُلٌّ إلى رَأْيِ مِنَ الحَقِّ رَاجِعُ

Opinions have diverged, yet the religion is one,

Opinions differed though religion is one

and each returns to a view drawn from the truth.

And each returns to an opinion of the truth

فَهذَا اخْتِلاَفٌ جَرَّ لِلْخَلْقِ راحَةً

فَهذَا اخْتِلاَفٌ جَرَّ لِلْخَلْقِ راحَةً

كما اخْتلَفَتْ في الرَّاحَتَيْنِ الأصابعُ

كما اخْتلَفَتْ في الرَّاحَتَيْنِ الأصابعُ

So this is a difference that has brought people ease,

So this is a difference that brought comfort to people

just as the fingers on the two palms differ.

As fingers differ in the two hands
