الصُّبْحُdawn بَدَاappeared مِنْfrom طَلْعَتِهِhis countenance
الصُّبْحُ بَدَا مِنْ طَلْعَتِهِ
وَاللَّيْلُand night دَجاgrew dark مِنْfrom وَفْرَتِهِhis abundant hair
وَاللَّيْلُ دَجا مِنْ وَفْرَتِهِ
Dawn appeared from his countenance.
The dawn shone from its rising
And night grew dark from his abundant hair.
And the night darkened from its gloaming
فَاقَsurpassed الرُّسُلاَthe messengers فَضْلاًin excellence وَعُلاَand eminence
فَاقَ الرُّسُلاَ فَضْلاً وَعُلاَ
أَهْدَىshowed السُّبُلاَthe paths لِدَلاَلَتِهِthrough his guidance
أَهْدَى السُّبُلاَ لِدَلاَلَتِهِ
He surpassed the messengers in excellence and eminence.
The messengers excelled in merit and sublimity
He showed the paths through his guidance.
He guided the paths to his guidance
كَنْزُtreasure الْكَرِيمِthe Generous One مُوْلِيbestower of النِّعَمِblessings
كَنْزُ الْكَرِيمِ مُوْلِي النِّعَمِ
هَادِيguide of الأُمَمِthe nations لِشَرِيعَتِهِto his law
هَادِي الأُمَمِ لِشَرِيعَتِهِ
The Generous One's treasure, bestower of blessings,
The treasure of the Benevolent, Bestower of Blessings
Guide of the nations to his law.
Guide of nations to His law
أَذْكَىpurest النَّسَبِlineage أَعْلَىhighest الحَسَبِnoble standing
أَذْكَى النَّسَبِ أَعْلَى الحَسَبِ
كُلُّall العَرَبِthe Arabs فيin خِدْمَتِهِhis service
كُلُّ العَرَبِ في خِدْمَتِهِ
Purest in lineage, highest in noble standing.
The most fragrant lineage, the highest nobility
All the Arabs are in his service.
All the Arabs are in his service
سَعَتِhastened الشَّجَرُthe trees نَطَقَspoke الحَجَرُthe stones
سَعَتِ الشَّجَرُ نَطَقَ الحَجَرُ
شُقَّwas split القَمَرُthe moon بإشَارَتِهِat his gesture
شُقَّ القَمَرُ بإشَارَتِهِ
The trees hastened; the stones spoke.
The trees spoke, the rocks uttered
The moon was split at his gesture.
The moon split at his gesture
جِبْرِيلُGabriel أَتَىcame لَيْلَةَon the night أَسْرَىhe journeyed by night
جِبْرِيلُ أَتَى لَيْلَةَ أَسْرَى
وَالرَّبُّand the Lord دَعَاهُsummoned him لِحَضْرَتِهِto His presence
وَالرَّبُّ دَعَاهُ لِحَضْرَتِهِ
Gabriel came on the night of the Night Journey.
Gabriel came on the night of ascension
And the Lord summoned him to His presence.
And the Lord called him to His presence
نالَattained الشَّرَفَاhonor وَاللهُand God عَفَاforgave
نالَ الشَّرَفَا وَاللهُ عَفَا
عَمَّاfor what سَلَفَاhad gone before مِنْfrom أُمَّتِهِhis community
عَمَّا سَلَفَا مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ
He attained honor, and God forgave
He attained glory and Allah forgave
what his community had done before.
What passed of his nation
فَمُحَمَّدُناso our Muhammad هُوَhe سَيِّدُناour master
فَمُحَمَّدُنا هُوَ سَيِّدُنا
فالعِزُّso honor لَناfor us لإجَابَتِهِfor responding to him
فالعِزُّ لَنا لإجَابَتِهِ
So our Muhammad is our master;
So Muhammad is our master
So honor is ours for responding to him.
And might is ours for obeying him
