ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النَبيthe Prophet المجتبىthe chosen one
يا رب صل عَلى النَبي المجتبى
ماas long as غردتsings فيin الايكthe grove ساجعةa cooing bird الرباof the hills
ما غردت في الايك ساجعة الربا
O Lord, send blessings upon the chosen Prophet,
as long as the hills' cooing bird sings in the grove.
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النبيthe Prophet وآلهand his family
يا رب صل عَلى النبي وآله
ماas long as اِهتَزَتsway الاثلاثthe tamarisks (apparent reading) منfrom نفسthe breath الصباof the east wind
ما اِهتَزَت الاثلاث من نفس الصبا
O Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,
as long as the tamarisks sway in the east wind's breath.
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النَبيthe Prophet وآلهand his family
يا رب صل عَلى النَبي وآله
ماas long as لاحَflashes برقlightning فيin الاباطحthe gravelly valleys أَوor حباcreeps along
ما لاحَ برق في الاباطح أَو حبا
O Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,
as long as lightning flashes in the gravelly valleys or creeps along.
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النَبيthe Prophet وآلهand his family
يا رب صل عَلى النَبي وآله
ماas long as أَمتmake for الزوّارthe visitors نحوكtoward you يثرباYathrib
ما أَمت الزوّار نحوك يثربا
O Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,
as long as visitors make for Yathrib, toward you.
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النَبيthe Prophet وآلهand his family
يا رب صل عَلى النَبي وآله
ماas long as قالَsays ذوone possessing كرمgenerosity لضيفto a guest مرحباwelcome
ما قالَ ذو كرم لضيف مرحبا
O Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,
as long as someone generous says to a guest, 'Welcome.'
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon النَبيthe Prophet وآلهand his family
يا رب صل عَلى النَبي وآله
ماas long as كوكبa star فيin الجوّthe sky قابلfaces كوكباanother star
ما كوكب في الجوّ قابل كوكبا
O Lord, send blessings upon the Prophet and his family,
as long as one star faces another in the sky.
ياO ربLord صلsend blessings عَلىupon الَّذيthe one whom أدنيتهYou brought him near
يا رب صل عَلى الَّذي أدنيته
منthan قابa span قَوسينof two bows الجنابthe presence الاقرباnearer
من قاب قَوسين الجناب الاقربا
O Lord, send blessings upon the one You brought near,
closer than two bow-lengths to the Presence.
باللَهby God ياO متلذذينyou who delight بذكرهin remembering him
باللَه يا متلذذين بذكره
صلواsend blessings عليهupon him فماfor how أَحقfitting وأَوجباand binding
صلوا عليه فما أَحق وأَوجبا
By God, O you who delight in remembering him,
send blessings upon him—how fitting and binding it is!
صلواsend blessings عَلىupon المختارthe Chosen One فهوfor he is شفيعكمyour intercessor
صلوا عَلى المختار فهو شفيعكم
فيon يومa day يبعثis raised كلevery طفلchild أَشيَباgray-haired
في يوم يبعث كل طفل أَشيَبا
Send blessings upon the Chosen One, for he is your intercessor
on a day when every child is raised gray-haired.
صلواsend blessings عَلىupon منthe one whom ظللتهshaded him غمامةa cloud
صلوا عَلى من ظللته غمامة
وَالجزعand the tree trunk (apparent reading) حنyearned لهfor him وأَفصحَتand spoke plainly الظباthe gazelles
وَالجزع حن له وأَفصحَت الظبا
Send blessings upon him whom a cloud shaded,
and the tree trunk yearned for him, and the gazelles spoke plainly.
صلواsend blessings عَلىupon مَنthe one تدخلونyou will enter بجاههthrough his standing
صلوا عَلى مَن تدخلون بجاهه
دارthe abode السَلامof peace وَتبلغونand you will attain المطلباthe desired goal
دار السَلام وَتبلغون المطلبا
Send blessings upon him through whose standing you will enter
the Abode of Peace and attain your desire.
صلواsend blessings عليهupon him وَسَلمواand invoke peace وَتَرحمواand invoke mercy
صلوا عليه وَسَلموا وَتَرحموا
وَردوايهand come through him (apparent reading) حوضthe pool الكَرامةof honor مشرباas a drinking place
وَردوايه حوض الكَرامة مشربا
Send blessings upon him, and invoke peace and mercy,
and through him come to the Pool of Honor to drink.
صلىmay He send blessings وَسلمand grant peace ذوthe Possessor of الجَلالmajesty عليكupon you ياO
صلى وَسلم ذو الجَلال عليك يا
منyou whose نورthe light طلعتهof his countenance يشقcleaves الغيهباthe deep darkness
من نور طلعته يشق الغيهبا
May the Lord of Majesty send blessings and peace upon you, O
you whose radiant countenance cleaves the deep darkness.
صلىmay He send blessings وَسلمand grant peace ذوthe Possessor of الجَلالmajesty عليكupon you ياO
صلى وَسلم ذو الجَلال عليك يا
أَحلاكhow sweet you are ذكراin remembrance فيin القلوبhearts وأَعذَباand how delightful
أَحلاك ذكرا في القلوب وأَعذَبا
May the Lord of Majesty send blessings and peace upon you, O
how sweet and delightful your remembrance is in hearts!
صلىmay He send blessings وَسلمand grant peace ذوthe Possessor of الجَلالmajesty عليكupon you ياO
صلى وَسلم ذو الجَلال عليك يا
أَوفاكhow faithful you are للمتذممينto those seeking protection وأَحسباand how noble
أَوفاك للمتذممين وأَحسبا
May the Lord of Majesty send blessings and peace upon you, O
how faithful you are to those seeking protection, and how noble!
صلىmay He send blessings وَسلمand grant peace ذوthe Possessor of الجَلالmajesty عليكupon you ياO
صلى وَسلم ذو الجَلال عليك يا
أَزكاكhow pure you are فيamong الرسلthe messengers الكِرامthe noble وَأَطيَباand how excellent
أَزكاك في الرسل الكِرام وَأَطيَبا
May the Lord of Majesty send blessings and peace upon you, O
how pure and excellent you are among the noble messengers!
صَليmay He send blessings وَسلمand grant peace ذوthe Possessor of الجلالmajesty عليكupon you منfrom
صَلي وَسلم ذو الجلال عليك من
عبدالرَحيمAbd al-Rahim توسلاin entreaty وَتَقرباand seeking nearness
عبدالرَحيم توسلا وَتَقربا
May the Lord of Majesty send blessings and peace upon you, from
Abd al-Rahim, in entreaty and in seeking nearness.
