بالأملِ الكاذبِ والخَوفِ

بالأملِ الكاذبِ والخَوفِ

جعلتَ لي قَلبْينِ في جَوْفي

With false hope and fear,

With delusive hope and fear

you have given me two hearts within my breast.

You have given me two hearts within my chest

آملُ قرباً وأخافُ النّوى

آملُ قرباً وأخافُ النّوى

فمُهجتي في راحتي أوفي

فمُهجتي في راحتي أوفي

I hope for closeness and fear separation;

I hope for nearness and fear purpose

so I offer my soul in full upon my palm.

So my innermost being is most loyal in my comfort

سعدتُ لو سفْتُ ثرى تربةٍ

سعدتُ لو سفْتُ ثرى تربةٍ

تَسلكُها سوفَ ترى سَوْفي

تَسلكُها سوفَ ترى سَوْفي

I would be happy if I sniffed the dust of a patch of earth

I would be content if I were to tread the soil of a plot

that you tread; you will see me sniffing.

That you would walk, you will see my expectancy
