إنسانُthe pupil عَينيof my eye قطُّever ماnot يَرتويquenches its thirst
إنسانُ عَيني قطُّ ما يَرتوي
منfrom ماءwater; figuratively, lustre وَجهٍof a face مَلُحَتْis lovely عَينُهُits eye
من ماء وَجهٍ مَلُحَتْ عَينُهُ
The pupil of my eye never quenches its thirst
The cat's eyes are never sated
from the water of a face whose eye is lovely.
With water from a face whose eyes shed salt.
كذلكlikewise الإنسانُa human being ماnot يَرتويquenches his thirst
كذلك الإنسانُ ما يَرتوي
منfrom شُربِdrinking ماءٍwater ملُحَتْis salty عينُهُits spring
من شُربِ ماءٍ ملُحَتْ عينُهُ
Likewise, a human being cannot quench his thirst
So too is man never sated
by drinking water whose spring is salty.
Drinking water with salt in his eyes.
