مَعادُ مُعاديهِ مَهْما طَوى

مَعادُ مُعاديهِ مَهْما طَوى

على بُغضِهِ القلبَ قَعرُ الطّوِيّ

على بُغضِهِ القلبَ قَعرُ الطّوِيّ

His foe's final abode, however he folds

However time obscures their enmity

his heart around hatred for him, is the bottom of the stone-lined well.

Hatred still festers in the heart's abyss

وأمثلُ أحوالِ أعدائهِ

وأمثلُ أحوالِ أعدائهِ

وكلُّهمُ نهبُ داءٍ دوِيّ

وكلُّهمُ نهبُ داءٍ دوِيّ

And the best lot of his enemies—

And foes behave as foes are wont to do

all of them prey to a grievous illness—is

All prey to some pernicious, rank disease

عِصِيٌّ مكلّلةٌ بالرؤوسِ

عِصِيٌّ مكلّلةٌ بالرؤوسِ

وروس مُكلّلةٌ بالعصِيّ

وروس مُكلّلةٌ بالعصِيّ

staves crowned with heads,

With heads enwreathed by staves that them enslave

and heads crowned with staves.

And staves enwreathed by heads they would disembowel
