When the crescent borrows light from him,
He turns his brow away from him and says, “Who is he?
أيطمَعdoes he hope أنْto يكونَbe غلامَservant of وَجْهيmy face
وليسَand there is no لكاذبِfor one with vain الأطماعِambitions وَجْهُface
Does he hope to be my face's servant?
And one with vain ambitions has no face.

But since he has importuned me so that
he might be the strap of my sandal, let him be it.”
