هأنذا ثاوياً بمضْيعةٍ

هأنذا ثاوياً بمضْيعةٍ

ووالدي في ضريحهِ ثاوِ

ووالدي في ضريحهِ ثاوِ

Here I am, dwelling in a place of neglect,

and my father dwells in his tomb.

قد كان للدَّهرِ رونقاً فمضَى

قد كان للدَّهرِ رونقاً فمضَى

فكلّهُ رونقٌ بلا واوِ

فكلّهُ رونقٌ بلا واوِ

He was the splendor of the age, then passed away;

so all of it is 'splendor' (rawnaq) without the wāw—murk.
