سمجٌ لديَّ فما لَكَ استملحتَهُ

O ill omen, O Kaywan, all that you do

is ugly to me—why have you found it charming?

والجدي بيتُك وهو أيضاً طالعي

أفسدتَه وحرىً لوِ استصْلحتَهُ

أفسدتَه وحرىً لوِ استصْلحتَهُ

And Capricorn is your house, and it is also my ascendant.

You ruined it; you would have done well to set it right.

وَيْ للجُدَيِّ ذبحتَهُ وسلخْتَهُ

وَيْ للجُدَيِّ ذبحتَهُ وسلخْتَهُ

وشويتَهُ وأكلتَهُ وسلحْتهُ

Alas for the little goat! You slaughtered it and flayed it,
