The curl of a temple-lock seared my heart’s depths, resembling
A hamza mark in the curve of its back.
وضاعفَand doubled أَشجانيmy sorrows بسالمwith the soundness of جسمِهِhis body
ومعتلّand the languor of عينيهِhis eyes وناقصِand the slenderness of خَصرِهِhis waist
And he doubled my sorrows with his sound body,
His languid eyes, and his slender waist.
