بنرجس صبّ ماوَرداً على وَردِ
And a young gazelle wept for love and charmed me,
A lover wept, to me the weeping's like
With a narcissus that poured rosewater upon a rose.
Narcissus raining dewdrops on a rose

درٌّ وهى فَهَوى من جانب العقد
As though his tears, while the eye sheds them,
As if his tears, that from his eyes outbreak,
Were pearls that came loose and fell from the side of a necklace.
Were pearls, and from a necklace's strand they flowed
