زَكَاةُ رؤوسِ الناسِ في عيدِ فِطرهِم

زَكَاةُ رؤوسِ الناسِ في عيدِ فِطرهِم

يَقولُ رسولُ اللهِ صاعٌ من البُرِّ

يَقولُ رسولُ اللهِ صاعٌ من البُرِّ

The alms due for people's heads at their Feast of Fast-Breaking—

The charity of people's heads on their Eid al-Fitr

says the Messenger of God—are a ṣāʿ of wheat.

The Messenger of Allah said: a sa'a of dates

ورأسُكِ أغلى قيمةً فتصدَّقي

ورأسُكِ أغلى قيمةً فتصدَّقي

بِفيكِ عَلينا فهْوَ صاعٌ من الدُّرِّ

بِفيكِ عَلينا فهْوَ صاعٌ من الدُّرِّ

And your head is worth more, so give alms

And your head is more precious

to us with your mouth, for it is a ṣāʿ of pearls.

So donate your mouth to us, for it is a sa'a of pearls
