ياO أهلَpeople of جُرجانَJurjan عفاءًruin علىupon
أرضكُمُyour land الكالحةِthe grim العابسَةْthe frowning
O people of Jurjan, may ruin fall upon
your grim, frowning land!
فسُفرتيfor my tablecloth منof خُبزكمyour bread قَفرةٌbarren
وصُرَّتيand my purse منof خَيركمyour bounty آيِسَهْdespairing
For my tablecloth is barren of your bread,
and my purse despairs of your bounty.
لكُمyou have هواءٌair سلسٌincontinent بولُهُits urine
علىupon عَثانينِكُمyour beards النائِسَةْthe swaying
Your air's urine flows unchecked
upon your swaying beards.
فالرِّجْلُso the foot منfrom أوحالكمyour mud رَطبةٌwet
واليدُand the hand عنaway from أَموالكمyour wealth يابسَةْdry
So the foot is wet with your mud,
while the hand is dry, untouched by your wealth.
