When the tools of capable men are counted,

If my tools of competence are counted,

my only tool is my inkwell.

My only tool is my inkpot.

وما ذاكَ إلاّ لأني بها

وما ذاكَ إلاّ لأني بها

أُداوي عُفاتي وأَدْوي عُداتي

أُداوي عُفاتي وأَدْوي عُداتي

And that is only because, with it,

And that is only because with it,

I heal those seeking my bounty and sicken my enemies.

I treat my virtues and cure my faults.
