أيا مَن ليسَ مُحتفلاً ببأسي
ستَعلمyou will learn أنَّthat رأيَكyour judgment فيهِof it أَفْنُfolly
ستَعلم أنَّ رأيَك فيهِ أَفْنُ
O you who pay no heed to my prowess,
O you who don't celebrate my affliction
you will learn that your judgment of it is folly.
You'll know your opinion of it is in vain
وتَعرفُنيand you will know me غَداةon the morning يَجيشُsurges جيشٌan army
وتَعرفُني غَداة يَجيشُ جيشٌ
ويرعفُand bleeds مارنٌa nose-tip ويسيلُand streams جَفْنُan eyelid
ويرعفُ مارنٌ ويسيلُ جَفْنُ
And you will know me the morning an army surges,
And you'll know me when an army marches
and a nose-tip bleeds and an eyelid streams.
When a meadow bleats and an eyelid flows
