لا ترجُ خيراً شاملاً في البشرْ

فشرُّهُم أَشملُ إن يُعْتَبرْ

Do not hope for all-encompassing goodness in humankind;

Do not hope for widespread good among people

for their evil is more encompassing, if considered.
