Your haughtiness has exhausted my patience, O Attu.
So here I am, after pious devotion—alas!—back again.

She struts as though she had not left her station [reading uncertain],
Among a people whose finest day is the Sabbath.

And she sings a Mosuli melody, as though it were
Strung pearls in our ears—and I tell no lie.

Pass it round and drink deep—fear no reproacher—
Against the turns of an age whose ways are deceit and hatred.

It saw its people complaining of it, so it bestowed upon them
Attu, and said: ‘Go on; let silence suffice you.’
