Stop and take heed, O you of insight.

It is enough for the discerning man to see his fate.

    The meadows of verdant gardens.

Would attain a garden; within lies a virtuous woman.

    This is everlasting bliss,

And the world's watering places are short-lived.

Like Kabira, daughter of the minister

    Mustafa, pure of heart,

Wife of the gallant minister Khay-

r al-Din, the best of men in conduct.

    كَبُرَت وَإِن كانَت صَغيرَه

    She was chaste and righteous;

She grew great, though she was young.

She departed for what gladdened her, through martyr-

    dom, great and momentous.

So may God make her reward abundant

And grant her many more blessings.

She departed, and I said, recording the date:

“To the bliss of gardens went Kabira.”
