قِف بِالسَبيلِ الطَيِّب

قِف بِالسَبيلِ الطَيِّب

العَذبِ الفُراتِ الصيِّبِ

العَذبِ الفُراتِ الصيِّبِ

Pause at the pleasant drinking fountain,

Stand by the good, sweet Euphrates

Sweet, fresh, and pouring abundantly,

And a spring as if it were

وَمَورِدٍ كَأَنَّهُ

وَمَورِدٍ كَأَنَّهُ

رُضابُ ثَغر أَشنَبِ

رُضابُ ثَغر أَشنَبِ

And at a watering place, as though it were

The rubbing of a mouth with gap-teeth

The sweet saliva of a pearly-toothed mouth,

Or the nature of the Pasha

أَو خُلُقُ البايِ الَّذي

أَو خُلُقُ البايِ الَّذي

أَجراهُ في ذا المَرقَبِ

أَجراهُ في ذا المَرقَبِ

Or the character of the Bey who

Who led it to this reservoir

Made it flow at this lookout:

Muhammad the good, he who

مُحَمَّد الطَيِّبِ مَن

مُحَمَّد الطَيِّبِ مَن

فازَ بِهَذا المَطلَبِ

فازَ بِهَذا المَطلَبِ

Muhammad al-Tayyib, who

Won this request

Attained this goal,

And led it to a people

وَساقَهُ لِمَعشَرٍ

وَساقَهُ لِمَعشَرٍ

يَشكونَ حَرَّ اللَهَبِ

يَشكونَ حَرَّ اللَهَبِ

And brought it to a people

Who complain of the burning heat

Who complained of the blaze's heat.

So the harbors became with it

فَصارَت المَرسى بِهِ

فَصارَت المَرسى بِهِ

مُختالَةً مِن طَرَبِ

مُختالَةً مِن طَرَبِ

So al-Marsa, through it, became

Swaying from enchantment

Strutting with joy.

So may God reward his effort

فَاللَهُ يَجزي سَعيَهُ

فَاللَهُ يَجزي سَعيَهُ

هُنا وَفي المُنقَلَبِ

هُنا وَفي المُنقَلَبِ

So may God reward his endeavor

And remain in happiness

Here and upon the final return,

And leadership like a star

وَدامَ في سَعادَةٍ

وَدامَ في سَعادَةٍ

وَقّادَةٍ كالكَوكَبِ

وَقّادَةٍ كالكَوكَبِ

And may he remain in happiness,

As long as it is said in his history

Glowing like a star,

Congratulations with the most delicious drink

ما قيلَ في تاريخِهِ

ما قيلَ في تاريخِهِ

يَهنِ بِشِربٍ أَطيَبِ

يَهنِ بِشِربٍ أَطيَبِ

As long as it is said in its chronogram:

"May he enjoy a sweeter draught."
