وَغُمدانَ وَالإِيوانَ أَو واديَ القَصرِ
For neither the palace of al-Sadir nor Bariq can match it,
nor Ghumdan, nor the Iwan, nor Wadi al-Qasr.

Head toward the land or the sea, for
in it the two opposites meet, like the fish and the turtledove.

Like its owner Mustafa, sweet in character,
though he took his daring and valor from Amr.

وَعُمدَتُهُ في حالَةِ السِرِّ وَالجَهرِ
The peerless jewel in kingship's crown, the sword in its right hand,
and its mainstay in private and in public.

And the charm of the tale of his life makes you forget
the eyes of the oryx between al-Rusafa and the bridge.

So may he ever remain a sun among the constellations, bringing joy,
as he wishes, with whatever he wishes, exalted in renown and glory.
