And a garden that outshone every garden

in the beauty of its delightful, peerless appearance.

Its water captivates the eyes, and its breeze

is more fragrant than unsealed musk to one who inhales.

A fountain welled up there, gushing for us

with limpid water that no one chokes on [tentative reading].

I imagined the Pleiades had flowed along the Milky Way

when the fountain flowed with its well-ordered waters.

And its pool seemed like the face of a maiden,

beautiful, in the days of unclouded youth.

Or like a mirror whose clarity delighted,

its surface showing you the gazer's reflection.

Or like neatly linked chain mail for the east wind,

when it passed at night with a wafting fragrance.

And it was as though the trees in their foliage

were graceful maidens wrapped in green headscarves.

And it was as though those bulbuls, when they sang,

bore witness to the oneness of God, the Creator.
