The festival of joy, the month of the Prophet's birth,

has come to you: rise to noble deeds and rejoice.

It looks to you for the honor you have always shown it,

and it is safety—so hasten to the birth celebration,

with the radiant countenance and the face that

heals, by your honor, every inflamed eyelid,

and restores to decayed remains their spirit,

and wins from them the rose of the thirsty heart,

and emerges [after] the moonless nights with a radiant brow—

if it faces the moon of darkness, that moon falls prostrate—

amid stars of kinsfolk and troops,

    strutting proudly in golden attire.

It has reached the hearts of a land's people, who have no

hope but that you suffer no wrong and live forever.

They ransom your sandal with their lives, and make

its traces their kohl in place of antimony.

Why not, when you have defended their sanctuary

yesterday, this present day, and tomorrow?

And you have labored to repel dangers on their behalf,

with radiant resolve, ablaze with ardor,

and built a protective wall of your troops,

for them against a terror never known before.

The shining example belongs to your land; so do not be alarmed,

and hurl suspicions in the faces of the envious.

Safety is theirs for all time; so give them hope,

and give freely; adorn time with neckbands and necklaces.

And make your prayer sincere for all, for it is

the antidote to whatever distress they encounter.

Do not direct your reproach at them for a lapse

or a stumble by an ignorant rebel.

For they are helpless dependents, and they have nothing

after God but Ahmad's august presence

and the enduring life of our lord the marshal, his namesake.

May he ever remain safe through the grace of the birth celebration,

and through the grace of the one whose birth it celebrates and of his Companions,

and his family, his followers, and whoever professes the faith,

and al-Shadhili, Muhriz, and the virtuous al-

Hattab, al-Baji, and every follower of Muhammad.
