وَإِذاand when أَتَيتَyou come to مُعَتِّباًMuʿattib فيin دارِهاher dwelling
وَإِذا أَتَيتَ مُعَتِّباً في دارِها
أَلفَيتَyou find أَهلَone endowed with نَدىًgenerosity هُناكَthere خَبيرِdiscerning
أَلفَيتَ أَهلَ نَدىً هُناكَ خَبيرِ
And when you come to Muʿattib in her dwelling,
When you come to blame me in her house,
You find there a discerning man of generosity.
You will find people well versed in reproach.
إِنَّindeed الجَوادَthe generous man إِذاwhen حَلَلتَyou alight بِبابِهِat his door
إِنَّ الجَوادَ إِذا حَلَلتَ بِبابِهِ
وَإِذاand when تُسائِلُهُyou ask him أَبوfather of يَعفورِYaʿfur
وَإِذا تُسائِلُهُ أَبو يَعفورِ
Indeed, the generous man, when you alight at his door,
Surely, when you enter the abode of the generous one,
And when you ask him, is Abu Yaʿfur.
And implore Abu Ya'four about him.
