إِلىto جَيداءَJaydāʾ قَدindeed بَعَثُواthey sent رَسُولاًa messenger
إِلى جَيداءَ قَد بَعَثُوا رَسُولاً
لِيُخبِرَهاto inform her فَلاso may ... not صُحِبَbe accompanied الرَسُولُthe messenger
لِيُخبِرَها فَلا صُحِبَ الرَسُولُ
They have sent a messenger to Jaydāʾ,
To Jaidaa a messenger they sent
To inform her—may the messenger go unaccompanied!
To inform her, but the messenger did not accompany
كَأَنَّas though العامَthe year لَيسَis not بِعامِa year of حَجٍّpilgrimage
كَأَنَّ العامَ لَيسَ بِعامِ حَجٍّ
تَغَيَّرَتِhave changed المَواسِمُthe seasons وَالشُكُولُand the forms
تَغَيَّرَتِ المَواسِمُ وَالشُكُولُ
As though the year were not a year of pilgrimage;
As if the year were not a year for pilgrimage
The seasons and forms have changed.
