Keep close to the one you love, and disregard an envier's words.

The envious one is no helper in love.

The Most Merciful has created no lovelier sight

Than two lovers on a single bed,

Embracing, with love's garments upon them,

With a wrist and a forearm for pillows.

And if, in your lifetime, one proves true to you,

That is the one you seek; live with that one.

And when hearts unite in love,

Then people are hammering cold iron.

O you who blame lovers for love,

Can you mend a corrupt heart?

O Lord, O Most Merciful, may You make our ending good,

Before death, even if only by a single day.
