ياO خيرَbest مُنتَصِفٍredresser of wrongs يُهدىis granted لهto him الرَّشَدُsound guidance
يا خيرَ مُنتَصِفٍ يُهدى له الرَّشَدُ
وياand O إماماًleader بهthrough him قدindeed أشرَقَhas shone البَلدُthe land
ويا إماماً به قد أشرَقَ البَلدُ
O best redresser of wrongs, to whom sound guidance is granted,
And O leader through whom the land has grown radiant,
تشكوcomplains إليكَto you عميدَchief of القومthe people أرمَلَةٌa widow
تشكو إليكَ عميدَ القوم أرمَلَةٌ
عُدِّيwrong was done عليهاto her فلمand so not يُتركwas left لهاto her سَبَدُa scrap of property
عُدِّي عليها فلم يُترك لها سَبَدُ
A widow complains to you, O chief of the people:
She was wronged, and not a scrap of property was left to her.
وابتُزَّand were seized منِّيfrom me ضياعيmy estates بَعدَafter مَنعَتِهاtheir security
وابتُزَّ منِّي ضياعي بَعدَ مَنعَتِها
ظُلماًunjustly وفُرِّقَand were separated منِّيfrom me الأهلُthe family والولدُand the children
ظُلماً وفُرِّقَ منِّي الأهلُ والولدُ
And my estates, once secure, were wrested from me,
Unjustly; and my family and children were torn from me.
