Never scorn a man because he has
Never scorn a man for having
a Roman mother, or a black one who speaks no Arabic.
A Roman or foreign black mother,

مُستودعاتٌ وللأحسابِ آباءُ
For the mothers of men are merely vessels,
For mothers are but vessels,
repositories; ancestral honor comes from fathers.
Repositories, while fathers shape the lineage.

For many an Arabic-speaking woman bears no noble offspring,
Many an Arab woman bears not her husband's sons
while a black woman may bear noble offspring to a sire.
While a black slave girl gives birth to her master's heirs.
