وإني لعَفُّ مشترك الغنى

وإني لعَفُّ مشترك الغنى

وتارك شكو لا يوافقه شكلي

وتارك شكو لا يوافقه شكلي

And I am indeed self-restrained, my wealth held in common,

I am one who spurns shared wealth,

and forsake complaint that does not accord with my nature.

And abandons complaining unmatched by my state,

وشكلي شكل لا يقومُ بمثلِهِ

وشكلي شكل لا يقومُ بمثلِهِ

من الناسِ إلا كلُّ ذي نيقةٍ مثلي

من الناسِ إلا كلُّ ذي نيقةٍ مثلي

And my nature is one whose like none can match

And my state is one unmatched

among people, save those of refinement like me.

By any but those graceful like me.

ولي نيقةٌ في المجدِ والبذلِ لم يكن

ولي نيقةٌ في المجدِ والبذلِ لم يكن

تأنَّقَها فيما مضى أحَدٌ قبلي

تأنَّقَها فيما مضى أحَدٌ قبلي

I have a refinement in glory and generosity that

I have grace in glory and generosity,

no one before me ever cultivated in times past.

Unadorned by any before me,

وأجعلُ مالي دون عِرضي جُنَّةً

وأجعلُ مالي دون عِرضي جُنَّةً

لِنفسي وأستغني بما كان من فضلي

لِنفسي وأستغني بما كان من فضلي

And I make my wealth a shield guarding my honor,

And I make my money a shield for my honor,

for myself, and find sufficiency in whatever surplus I have.

Independent through my abundant merit.
