تفرّقواdisperse ودَعونيand leave me
ياO معشرcompany of الأعوانِthe aides
Disperse and leave me,
Leave me be, you gathering of friends
O company of aides.
For each of you has many guises
فَكُلُّكُمfor each of you ذُوpossessing وجوهٍfaces
كثيرةِmany الألوانِcolors
For each of you has faces
And I see nothing but lies
Of many colors.
And delusions of hope
وماand not أرىI see غَيرَother than إِفكٍfalsehood
وتُرَّهاتِand follies الأمانيwishes
And I see nothing but falsehood
I own nothing
And the folly of wishful hopes.
So ask my treasurer
ولستand I do not أملِكُI possess شَيئاًanything
فَسائِلواso ask خُزّانيmy treasurers
And I possess nothing,
But woe to me from what has stricken me
So ask my treasurers.
In this abode of sorrows
فالويلُso woe فيماin what دَهانيhas befallen me
منfrom نازلِone staying in البُستانِthe garden
Woe, then, for what has befallen me
From the one staying in the garden.
